It's natural and normal for us to experience fear, be it about failing, succeeding or even fearing the feeling itself. Fear can become a barrier and prevent us from achieving all that we are capable of. It's important to understand that fear exists and to find ways to work with it, rather than letting it stop us from reaching our goals.

Fear can have a paralyzing effect if it isn't addressed properly. If you are struggling with fear, there are ways to help mitigate its effects. Here are nine useful tips for overcoming fear:

1. SEPARATE REALITY FROM PERCEPTION

It's important to think logically and make conclusions based on facts, not feelings. Ask yourself questions about the situation so you can find out what is really going on, then place those facts over your emotional response to the situation.

2. IDENTIFY THE TRIGGER

Gaining a better understanding of the situations that cause stress and anxiety can be incredibly beneficial in developing strategies to combat them. Understanding what it is in a situation that triggers you allows you to address the source and shift your thought processes in order to manage negative responses.

3. KNOW WHERE FEAR LIVES IN YOUR BODY

When fear manifests itself physically, it can affect people in different ways. It's important to be aware of how fear affects your body and take proactive steps to address it. For example, if you experience tension or pain in your back due to stress, you can incorporate stretches, foam rolling or other related activities into your daily routine to ease the discomfort.
